Year: Oct 2022 - Nov 2023

Skills: UX, UI, visual, and web design

The brief

Foster and implement design strategies across all levels of the organization to strengthen brand identity, simplify user experience, and solidify a more vital visual communication across all digital platforms.

The impact

  • Improved user experience across the website led to a 15% decrease in bounce rates on the product pages.

  • Successful landing pages for specific events that simplify the registration process, reach larger audiences, and maximize 100% attendee capacity.

  • Newsletter design & implementation that led to a 20% increase in employee internal survey engagement.

As the sole Visual & Web Designer at GeoComply, I wore many hats: blending UX, UI, motion, and graphic design to create cohesive and engaging digital experiences. From the company website to product microsites, every project was an opportunity to shape how users interacted with the brand. The redesigned pages led to higher web traffic, reduced bounce rates, and a smoother, more intuitive user experience across the site.

My work spanned across the organization, from leading internal and external design projects to collaborating with teams on marketing campaigns, product launches, and newsletters. I also helped elevate the company’s digital presence through brand-aligned visuals, microsite development, and a stronger online identity.

Due to confidentiality agreements, I’m unable to share all project details publicly. However, if you’d like to learn more about my work at GeoComply, feel free to reach out to me directly.

A glimpse into my role as a Visual & Web Designer

When creativity meets compliance

Working at GeoComply meant designing within a highly regulated industry, where every decision had to balance creativity with compliance. At times, the strict limitations left little room for creative freedom, but they also became the spark for some of my most inventive problem-solving moments.

Each project challenged me to think differently: how could I create designs that met all legal standards and still felt engaging, intuitive, and human? Pushing through those constraints turned into one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

My process always started with collaboration. I led discussions with stakeholders across teams to understand their challenges, map out user pain points, and define clear goals. That foundation helped me design with intention by crafting solutions that were not only compliant, but also meaningful and effective.

Some of the projects I worked on during my time at GeoComply included:

  • Trust Center web portal

  • GChallenge microsite design

  • Product page redesigns

  • Internal & external newsletters — design and launch

  • Job listing portal design

With such a diverse pool of users, working around a design solution that would satisfy every user took time and effort. With this in mind, my design approach prioritized four main focus areas:

1. Accessibility 2. Scalability 3. Consistency 4. Inclusivity

What was my impact?

To address many of the challenges GeoComply faced, I focused on designing solutions that met both internal needs and real issues our users encountered. Whenever I approached a design problem, my process always began with identifying and mapping out the goals and pain points of both stakeholders and users. I believe that my problem-solving mindset and drive for innovation at GeoComply helped bridge the gap between the two.

As a Web Designer, my main focus was the company’s website, a crucial part of the customer journey and a key driver for lead generation. It was essential to craft an experience that clearly communicated our value proposition, shared industry insights, attracted new audiences, and strengthened our position as industry leaders.

Beyond the main site, I also worked on a variety of digital experiences, from portals and microsites to product campaigns, video pages, and event sites. Across every project, my goal was to design with intention: creating solutions that balanced business objectives with the needs of our users.

Takeaways

  • Working with many limitations comes with many challenges. My role as a designer is to research, iterate, and test designs in order to reach a common ground that satisfies both users and business’ needs.

While limitations can feel hindering at times, I take them as a great opportunity to innovate and test new ideas that have never been implemented before.

  • Although I was lucky to be part of the Marketing team, my role was intertwined with many projects the Product design team was working on.

My time here has helped me understand how both teams are crucial to one another. For Marketing, understanding the product is crucial to designing better solutions to promote the company’s values and offerings to the world. For Product, understanding how to communicate the brand and voice in products is essential as well to create more cohesiveness across the entire brand.

Working cross-functionally allowed me to understand the needs of different teams, allowing me to make better design decisions that benefit our business and, more importantly, our users.
